Understand your results and what they may mean for your current state of health & nutritional status
Blood test results can contain useful information about your nutritional and metabolic health, but receiving a page of numbers doesn’t always leave you knowing what to do next.
At Aster for Health, existing pathology can be considered alongside your symptoms, diet, health history and lifestyle to help build a clearer picture of your nutritional health.
Looking at the results in context
Depending on the pathology available and your individual circumstances, nutritional assessment may consider markers relating to areas such as:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) with Differential: Assesses red and white blood cells to check for hidden immune stress, chronic infections, or anemias using optimal ranges
- Metabolic Panel (CMP): Measures basic metabolic health, including liver enzymes (ALT, AST, GGT), kidney function (BUN, creatinine, eGFR), and electrolytes, AST:ALT Ratio, GGT:HDL Ratio, BUN:Creatinine Ratio, SUA:Creatinine Ratio, Ca:Phosphate Ratio
- Lipid Panel: Goes beyond basic cholesterol to measure particle size, LDL subfractions, Apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and Lipoprotein(a)
- Blood Sugar Panel: Evaluates fasting glucose, fasting insulin, and Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) to spot early metabolic resistance
- Thyroid Panel: Measures TSH alongside Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, and thyroid autoantibodies (TPO, TG) to check cellular hormone conversion
- Iron & Ferritin Panel: Assesses serum iron, ferritin, transferrin saturation, and total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) to evaluate storage levels and inflammation.
- Inflammatory & Vascular Markers: Includes high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), homocysteine, and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)
- Micronutrient Status: Tests serum and red blood cell levels of Vitamin D, active Vitamin B12, folate, magnesium, zinc, copper, and selenium
- Hormone Panel (Serum/Plasma): Measures cortisol (AM), DHEA-S, total/free testosterone, oestradiol, progesterone, SHBG, prolactin, LH, and FSH
- Preventive Health Genetic Test
- DNA Methylation
- Any many, many more options to investigate your health…
Rather than looking at an individual result in isolation, we consider it within the context of your diet, symptoms and overall health. Pathology interpretation provided by Aster is within the scope of clinical nutrition practice and does not replace medical diagnosis or advice from your GP or specialist.
Your results are more than numbers on a page — By looking at pathology alongside your nutrition, symptoms and health history, we can build a clearer picture of what may be influencing your health & where nutrition can make a meaningful difference.
Functional testing
In some circumstances, further testing may provide useful information to guide nutritional care. Where clinically appropriate, we can discuss available functional pathology options and whether the information they provide is likely to be useful for your individual situation.
Testing isn’t automatically recommended for everyone. The goal is to use testing when it has a clear purpose — rather than ordering tests simply because they’re available.
From information to practical action
The most important question isn’t simply “What does this number mean?” It’s: “What can I realistically do with this information?” We’ll translate relevant nutritional findings into practical strategies around food, lifestyle and supplementation where appropriate, while identifying anything that should be discussed further with your GP or another healthcare professional.
Have pathology results you’re not sure what to do with? we can discuss whether Aster is the right fit for you.
